I am an artist and illustrator who specialises in architectural illustrations and seascape painting. Following a levels in Art, Photography, and Design I completed a foundation course in Art & Design at Brighton College of Technology. I then went on to study at Falmouth College of Arts (now University College Falmouth), where in 2001 I graduated with a 2:1 BA Hons in Illustration. It was in Falmouth I met my future husband. Being a keen yachtsman he taught me to sail and together we have sailed extensively around the UK and Mediterranean. It is these travels that have provided the main inspiration for my artwork. After a time freelancing as an illustrator for a cruise travel magazine we settled in Bosham, a village on the West Sussex coast. I now work from my home studio, and frequently sail to France where I draw inspiration from the coast line, old buildings and village life in Normandy and Brittany. I create impressions of houses, cafes, street scenes etc and often work from photographs. Our voyages have more recently proved an inspiration for my current series of seascapes. They depict the juxtaposition of sea and sky in its endless variation of colour and mood. |
